Eight week

Dejavuuuu…
Today has been about competitive analysis and how we see other competitors. How it’s effecting other customers. In groups we looked at PESTEL which stands for political, economic, technology and legal forces. This helps to analyse the factors that are effecting the business’s performance. I was able to understand this section of this week’s objectives as I’m currently in the process of researching in depth about this particular section (PESTEL). Therefore, I feel fortunate to have background knowledge on these key terms and makes it easier to follow Marks seminar.

Another theory was learnt called Porters five forces:
It includes factors of barriers to entry, threat of substitutes, competitive rivalry, power of suppliers and power of buyers. This enables to position the business against its competitors.

Seventh week

Hooray!!
After a few weeks of not being in touch with our client we listened to Mark’s advice to call him. At first we were all apprehensive on who would be the first person to speak to him on the phone so I decided to be a team player – dialling the number and pressing ‘call’…
It was a relief when he answered, although he asked us to ring back in 10 minutes which made us anxious if he would call back due to past let downs. The group was getting worried as all the other groups had been meeting up with their clients which gave us a disadvantage to our task. This is because as a group we felt we prepared with our task and objectives but wanted feedback from the client on our ideas and which ones are the most effective.

Findings from the call:
·      Target market mainly female age range 25-44
·      Set up a Facebook page and apply content to attract customers- this can’t go live.
·      They mainly play 80’s music
·      The ‘egg hunt’ idea had been similarly used before
After the phone call we took these ideas on board and decided that in the future we need to try and attract mainly mothers around that age range.

After a small confusion on whether the ethics form had been completed, we decided to re fill it again. It was important for us to complete this from any potential risks, harms and benefits to the participant.

Sixth week

Group work & feedback. Today our tutor discussed our Individual PDP on a one to one to give us feedback on the areas where we said we needed improving.

·      Contact our client at random
·      Good understanding of the task
·      Keep a good attitude on the task even though it’s not real life

As our client hasn’t been able to contact us in the past two weeks we decided to go as a group that it would be best to email our presentation that we had completed on why we wanted to choose ‘party in the park’ and our ideas included. We did this so the client has a sense of direction in what we wanted to do and have a clear understanding so when we’d call him he’d know our objectives.
