Fifth week

During todays lesson we discussed time management. As a group we have been communication with each other on queries we may have had about the tasks. One of our queries happened to be brought by Mark- the company budget. As we were aware of the £2,500 budget we questioned whether the company would actually allow us to use this budget or if it was fictional. However, we discussed this situation with Mark for us to find out that the project won’t consider our ideas which was very upsetting as we were excited and enthusiastic for the company to take on board our improvements we planned to make. On the other hand, the group is trying to keep a positive attitude with the rest of the task and adapt to the slight chances.

Plan of action:
·      Consider problems (internal and external)
·      Create a Gantt chart
It’s important to have up to date records for the project to run smoothly. It also makes it easier for the rest of the team on what needs to be done and what has already been done.

Fourth week

In this weeks lesson we interrogated exactly what was on the brief to get a clear understanding on the tasks we are meant to complete from our agencies. A critical understanding was to embed the 4 P’s for pitching: personality, persuasion, passion and performance.
We also received our feedback from our pitches on what went well and what needed to be improved.

Why did we do well?
-       We had shown passion and great understanding for our brief.
-       Good team skills.
-       Knowledge and good/reasonable amount content on the slides.
-       Included cases and strategy - online and offline interaction considered.
-       Good thoughts and responses to questions.
 What could be improved?
-       More Visuals on the slides.
-       Clear information.
-       Improve time management on uploading to the pitch to Moodle.
-       We were maybe sometimes too ambitious.
-       Talk more to the audience and less screen reading.

After analysing our strengths and weaknesses on the presentation we planned what

questions to ask our client. These included questions, such as how do they currently engage with their audience and the budget for this project we needed to consider. Along with this I completed my personal development plan that will enable me to view any improvements I’ve made from the beginning of the year compared to the end of the year.

Third week

It’s the week we have to pitch! The team spent last night organising the last few bits for our preparation. We have chosen what slides we are planning on saying, the colour scheme and our theme! Due to Party in the park being a festival I thought it’d be creative to bring festival props as it will hopefully make the audience have a sense of excitement and anticipation for the presentation.

I was super excited to be presenting to the class as I was confident in our aims and our future plans on the company * The Wireless Group* as well as the whole group having a positive attitude. I am very happy with the group dynamics as everyone contributed in different sections of the power point. However, the competition is fierce as there were two other groups pitching for the project and there will be more in the following lesson.

Second week

During our tutorial I conducted the Belbin test I found out I was the explorer and team worker. I believe this is a good trait to make the group to get along in harmony.

·      Resource Investigators are innovative and curious. They explore available options, develop contacts, and negotiate for resources on behalf of the team. They are enthusiastic team members, who identify and work with external stakeholders to help the team accomplish its objective. The explorer is generally an extrovert by nature. He or she is cheerful, gregarious. The explorer is also investigative, interested and curious about things. Because explorers like to improvise and communicate with others, they will have little problem presenting ideas to the team and developing new contacts.
·      Team Workers are the people who provide support and make sure that people within the team are working together effectively. They are flexible, diplomatic, and perceptive. The team player is caring, avoids conflicts, and fosters harmony. Being someone who likes to help other people, the team player is generally considered agreeable and friendly. He or she is diplomatic and emphasizes solidarity and team cohesion.
Furthermore, in lesson we had to choose carefully our team. Thus Emma, Nicole, Abigail, Chloe and myself decided to become a team. This is due to the variety of different roles we found out we are best at through the Belbin test such as chairman, co-ordinator, shaper and completer.

Project choosing…
Mark (our tutor) gave us a list of companies to choose from to start our project work. We looked closely at the CafĂ© in Didsbury but found it challenging in what their actual aim was. We also wanted to take on a challenge that would interest us which is why we decided to choose Party in the park. This is because it’s working within the area of festivals and we all love a good festival.
